Camp Rock actress Demi Lovato was opened up recently about her personal battles she has been working on in a rehabilitation center for the past few months. Demi revealed to People that she discovered she has bipolar disorder while in rehab. “I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar,” she said in her interview. “Looking back it makes sense, there were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I’d be up until 5:30 in the morning.”

“I feel like I am in control now where my whole life I wasn’t in control,” Demi says.

Along with her bipolar disorder, Demi has also been in treatment for her eating disorder and cutting, which stemmed from being bullied for being fat.

“I was bullied for being fat,” she says. Demi also admitted that she stopped eating at the age of 12, when she dropped 30lbs to make her only 95lbs. “But in reality I was only eating a meal a day. When I was about 15, I was only eating two meals a week, but I wasn’t losing any more weight because my body adjusted to that. So I tried new things, laxatives, fasts – nothing was working.”

Demi began to suffer from bulimia around the time she was filming the first Camp Rock movie. “At my worst, I was doing it five times a day. I threw up so hard and so much, it was just blood in the toilet”

Demi is now out of the treatment centre and continues to work on her recovery, and has also revealed that she has chosen not to return to her television series Sonny with a Chance.
