Now that her series with the Disney Channel is over, 19-year-old Selena Gomez has been looking for new roles to help her transition into adulthood. In her most recent movie Spring Breakers, Selena takes on a whole new level in a storyline that involves robbery, drinking, drugs and partying along with Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson who also star in the film.
When talking about the new movie to MTV, Selena admitted that this new role may come as a surprise to some people.
“People will be a little shocked, I think,” Selena explained. “I’m a little nervous about it but honestly it’s a right step for me, I’m really proud of it.”
“I think as an actress it really challenged me,” she continued. “All of the other actresses are also trying to prove themselves, so it was just really, really fun.”
As for more risque roles, Selena recently did a parody of the sexy novel Fifty Shades of Grey in a skit called Fifty Shades of Blue. Ever since, rumours have been swarming the internet over wether or not Selena would like to play the role of the main character in the upcoming movie version of the sex-driven book.
“I know I’m taking risks but I don’t think I could do that,” she told MTV News. “That would be a little too much for me.”
