Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen has been working hard over the past few months, recording new songs for a new album. After her smash-hit single Call Me Maybe, Carly will be putting out some new music soon – and even got the opportunity to collaborate with some of today’s hottest stars.
“The way my album has come together has been sort of a shock for me,” Carly revealed in a recent interview with MTV.
One of her recent collaborations was with LMFAO‘s Redfoo. “It’s really neat. We made friends and started working on a song together, and we actually started working on a majority of that song over the phone.”
Who else has Carly recorded with? “Jack [Antonoff, guitarist] from the band Fun., and that was sort of a random collaboration of us both really digging what the other person did,” she continued. “And the last collaboration is a song with Justin Bieber. We’re gonna do a little duet. And then the rest are sort of like, I think ‘Call Me Maybe’ is a pretty fair representation. It is pop, but there’s also dance-pop and a little hint of folk-pop.”
Carly then revealed how her collaboration with Justin came about. “It was a song that him and Toby Gad brought to the table and asked [me to record],” she recalled. “Actually, on my first introduction of Bieber, he was like, ‘Do you wanna sing this song?’ I said, ‘Yes!’ I love that track as well, so it was exciting.”
Can’t wait to hear Carly’s new music!
