I have never wanted to join a book club more.
Actress/activist Emma Watson recently announced that she is starting her very own Feminist book club called Our Shared Self, where she will join others online to read and discuss different feminist works each month.
Emma took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the book the club will be reading for the month of June by sharing a picture of herself holding the book Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.
Persepolis is a graphic novel that follows: “the story of Satrapi’s unforgettable childhood and coming of age within a large and loving family in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution; of the contradictions between private life and public life in a country plagued by political upheaval; of her high school years in Vienna facing the trials of adolescence far from her family; of her homecoming–both sweet and terrible; and, finally, of her self-imposed exile from her beloved homeland. It is the chronicle of a girlhood and adolescence at once outrageous and familiar, a young life entwined with the history of her country yet filled with the universal trials and joys of growing up.”
Excuse me while I run out to get my hands on this book! If you’re looking to join in on Emma’s club, you can purchase the book here.
Will you be joining Emma’s new book club?
