Ashley Tisdale‘s new movie Amateur Night is dropping this Friday (August 5th), and it’s her raciest role yet!
The former High School Musical star opened up to Entertainment Tonight about her new role as a stripper nammed Fallon, and how starring on Disney made her have to fight for the part.
“I have to go in and fight for these roles,” she says. “When they first heard about me coming in, [the directors] were like, ‘Yeah, I don’t think she’s right for this,’ and I was like, ‘No, no, I want to do this!’ And I love Jason Biggs, so I was really excited that I got the chance to do it.”
“This is so different from anything anyone’s seen me do,” she adds.
Ashley also dished on her loyal fanbase that have followed her since her HSM days, saying:
“When you have something that successful that kind of took on a world of its own, you are gonna be known for that character, and it’s important as an actress to really challenge yourself and do different things. I never wanted to neglect my audience, because they’re why I’m here today. So, I’ve taken baby steps, but over the last three years specifically, I really wanted to do things that scare me and make me come out of my comfort zone, and this one definitely scared me!”
