Actress/Singer Lea Michele made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (Oct. 9), where she dished all about her new ABC series The Mayor.
The Mayor follows an aspiring rapper who runs for mayor as a publicity stunt to up his rapping career, but ends up winning the election. Lea dished on her character, saying: “I play Valentina, his friend from high school who’s sort of the Olivia Pope of it all, helping to mold him into becoming the best mayor that he can be. It’s a really inspiring and amazing show.”
“Coming off of Scream Queens where I played the psycho killer, I wanted to do something a bit more grounded and so I really just love this character and really love the show,” Lea added.
During her appearance, Lea also took some time to discuss her high school and varsity debate team days, where she and her debate team partner were an unstoppable team.
“I wasn’t the smartest girl in high school, I mean I did well, but for me I could basically just talk my way out of a bag, and so I was the talker and she was the brains,” Lea revealed.
