Call Me Maybe songstress Carly Rae Jepsen is featured in the latest issue of Glamoholic, where the star chats about her newest album, as well as her family and friends and the upcoming Billboard Music Awards.
“I think the only thing that I ever really consider when I’m writing music or working on a song is if it represents something that is really true to me.” Carly said when speaking of her new single, “I wanted something that has the element of being flirtatious, angst and sort of a little bit more confident. In a song like ‘Tonight I’m Getting Over You’ it’s really representative of my different sides of my personality so I felt really comfortable moving forward with it.”
Carly revealed that there are still a bunch of different sides of her personality that we have yet to see, “There’s a whole rainbow of colours that I have yet to showcase.” She said, “Whenever I go to write or put out a CD it’s always the type of music and sound that I’m most passionate about. pop music is a total love affair that I’m having right now.”
As for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, which are tomorrow night in Las Vegas, Carly will be attending the show and is up for nine awards during the night. How did Carly react to her nominations?
“I feel extremely flattered!” She spilled. “It was an amazing surprise! I think I found out the day when I was in Canada seeing my family and friends. We all kind of discovered the news together so it was really, really exciting for us. My family and everybody knows exactly how long that I have been dreaming of this and working hard at it. So, it’s really exciting to see things like that happen.”

Singer Carly Rae Jepsen recently collaborated with Nicki Minaj on her new remixed version of Tonight I’m Getting Over You, and now the Canadian pop star has her eyes on some new names that she would love to collaborate with in the future. Among the list of who she would like to work with are singer/songwriter Ne-Yo, and Carly’s boyfriend Matthew Koma.
I actually really interested in maybe working with NeYo,” Carly told E! News. “I met him at the Grammys…and I’m actually really inspired by the songwriting he’s offered so far. So I’d be down with getting in the room and seeing if we could make something cool together.”
“I would definitely work with my boyfriend Matthew Koma again,” she continued. “Believe it or not we’re like super-professional when we get into the studio together. We met while working on ‘This Kiss’ and I think because of how we met, we pop right back into that professional behavior.”
“We’re super, über-polite with each other, it’s funny,” she added.
As for now, the singer isn’t worrying herself too much about coming out with a new hit single to top her chart-topping song Call Me Maybe. “With ‘Call Me Maybe’ it was just like a pleasant surprise to me that it took off,” Carly said. “So I think I’m just going to keep that mentality of not really focusing on the success of music and just more focusing on making good music, and I feel like that way, you can never go wrong.”

“The way my album has come together has been sort of a shock for me,” Carly revealed in a recent interview with MTV.
One of her recent collaborations was with LMFAO‘s Redfoo. “It’s really neat. We made friends and started working on a song together, and we actually started working on a majority of that song over the phone.”
Who else has Carly recorded with? “Jack from the band Fun., and that was sort of a random collaboration of us both really digging what the other person did,” she continued. “And the last collaboration is a song with Justin Bieber. We’re gonna do a little duet. And then the rest are sort of like, I think ‘Call Me Maybe’ is a pretty fair representation. It is pop, but there’s also dance-pop and a little hint of folk-pop.”
Carly then revealed how her collaboration with Justin came about. “It was a song that him and Toby Gad brought to the table and asked ,” she recalled. “Actually, on my first introduction of Bieber, he was like, ‘Do you wanna sing this song?’ I said, ‘Yes!’ I love that track as well, so it was exciting.”

Canadian songstress Carly Rae Jepsen has been travelling the world over the past month, promoting her hit single Call Me Maybe which launched her into stardom.
Fellow Canadian Justin Bieber even sought out the star after hearing her song, signing her to his manager’s record label!
In a recent interview, Carly talked about how Justin has changed her life, and what her newfound success has been like.
“A lot of the reason people have been able to hear it is because of Justin’s support. But why it is responding as well is kind of a mystery to me, but it is wonderful.” Carly explained. “So far Justin hasn’t taken on the boss attitude, which is nice. He’s been more of a really good supporter and friend. He’s also given me a bit of a boost of confidence because you struggle for so many years.”
Is Carly competitive with Justin at all? “Oh, I think we had a little friendly competition going on but he’s a good sport about it. And I think he knows, as I know, that none of that success would have been possible without his support.”
Carly even revealed where the inspiration from the hit single came from! “The line ‘Before you came into my life I missed you so bad’ was in fact written and inspired by the guy that I am seeing now, actually. He’s got like three CDs written for him so it’s old news, he is used to it. That was the truth for me and him; I was like ‘Oh, life could be this good? Awesome.’
The song has made it so big that stars like Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Justin Bieber made a video of themselves rocking out to it! “I was talking to my mom at the time and it popped up on my Facebook. There had been a couple of mock videos that fans had done and stuff, I thought it was one of those. But I was like ‘that guy looks like Justin Bieber and that girl looks like Selena Gomez’ and by the time Ashley Tisdale came on I was like ‘Mom, I got to go!’ and I had a little freak out.”
“Miley Cyrus did one too, it’s insane. It’s kind of a cool little thing that has started – celebrities but also lots of different fans putting together videos. And everyone always looks so happy.”
