Joe Jonas on DNCE’s VMA Nomination: “We didn’t expect that at all”

Posted on 1 min read 69 views

Singer Joe Jonas dropped by Live! With Kelly on Wednesday morning (July 27) to chat about his new band DNCE and their new nomination for this year’s VMAs.

During his appearance, Joe sat down with hosts Kelly Ripa and Jerry O’Connell to dish on what it’s like working with his new band after being a part of Jonas Brothers, saying:

“I worked with my brothers for over ten years. You start to get so comfortable in that setting, and now being a frontman of a different band and having friends around you, it feels just brand new again,” he said.

“Hitting that refresh button is really special.”

DNCE has quickly found success with their singles Cake by the Ocean and Toothbrush, and were just nominated for the “Best New Artist” award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

“We didn’t expect that at all,” Joe said of the nomination. “Seeing it on paper, you’re like ‘Best new artist?’ But we’re honored, this is a new adventure for us – for all of us – everyone in the band has done other things so to have this kind of experience and be up at the MTV awards, it’s gonna be amazing.”

Congrats to Joe and DNCE on their nomination!
