Julianne Hough Talks Married Life, Keeping Healthy in Health Magazine

Posted on 5 min read 71 views

Dancer/Actress Julianne Hough is featured on the newest issue of Health Magazine, where she dishes on married life, how she stays healthy, and about her endometriosis.

Julianne took to her Instagram to write about her new cover, saying: “Thank you @healthmagazine making me this months cover girl! I had an absolute blast. I also can’t thank you enough for talking openly about endometriosis so that we can all get in the know about #MeInEndo !
Check out the magazine that hits stands this week to see the rest of the photoshoot and read my own story about #endometriosis xoxo Jules #healthmagazine #mpgsport #mpgbyjules”

Check out some of Julianne’s interview below!

On Married Life:

“I feel so much more sexy,” she says. “It’s so awesome. I love being married so much.”

“I’ve always wanted to be married and be a mom and have kids, but to be honest, all of that scared the s— out of me. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, to actually be married and committed to somebody, that just seems so grown-up.’ But the first thing that I felt when we got married was, ‘This is the complete opposite of scary. This is like home.'”

On Working with a Trainer:

“I do, but I change it up. It’s not one specific trainer who does everything. I work with a trainer at Body by Simone or one at Tracy Anderson, or I’ll do SoulCycle or CorePower Yoga with different trainers. I’m a dancer, so I remember different combinations, so I’ll sometimes take what I’ve learned in classes and make my own workout.”

On her least favourite workout move:

“Oh my goodness. You know those sliding round disks where you put one foot there and you do your inner thighs, or you’re crossing behind? Anything to do with inner or outer thighs—that’s my struggle point, so I’m always trying to work on that part of my body. I love doing abs and I love doing arms, so legs are always the hardest for me. But they’re the most rewarding.”

Julianne Hough for Health Magazine's November 2017 issue

On how she stays healthy:

“Me time. If I don’t have my space for an hour, I feel overwhelmed and I need to just chill. That can be having a cup of tea by myself outside, going and getting gas—it doesn’t matter; I just need some time every day where I can think and put myself in a good place. I always try to wake up and think about three things that I’m grateful for: something that has happened already, something I’m currently grateful for, and something that I’m wanting that I can achieve that day.”

On her morning routine:

“I always wake up and we make fresh juices. It’s mainly kale, cucumber, spinach, sometimes beets, celery, lemon, ginger. For sweetness we’ll do apple or carrots. I have half a protein shake before I work out because I need a little bit of energy, but I’m one of those people who can’t have a full breakfast. Brooks can have, like, a tub of oatmeal, and I’m like, ‘I would throw up.’ When I finish the workout, I finish the protein shake. Then I come home and have a bowl of oatmeal and berries or something like that.”

Julianne Hough for Health Magazine's November 2017 issue

On if she has bad days:

“Oh my gosh, totally. And that’s the thing—I do try to stay as positive as possible, and people always comment on that, but I also work at it. It’s not that I’m, like, Miss Positive perfect girl, wake up and everything’s sunshine and rainbows.

“No, I have my days for sure. The other day, I was having a major endometriosis “episode” is what I call them, and I was just quiet. We went to the beach, and it was fine, but I wasn’t active. I didn’t want to play Spikeball and I didn’t want to play Frisbee, and later, Brooks was like, “Hey, are you OK?” I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m just not feeling very good.’ He was like, ‘Oh, I just thought you were in a bad mood. You need to tell me that because I don’t know.’ So, trust me, I have my days. Sometimes I don’t want to work out, and so sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I’m just like, ‘I deserve a day off—I’m fine.’ But sometimes I’m like, ‘No, come on, I know I’m gonna feel better afterward.’ The end result is always the best. There’s never been a time I’ve finished a workout and been like, ‘I totally regret doing that.'”

Julianne Hough for Health Magazine's November 2017 issue

On when she realized she has endometriosis:

“I thought I was just like every other girl—getting her period and having cramps. I’d see my mom and my sisters all have bad cramps, but being a dancer, I was like, ‘I’m fine. I’m a tough cookie.’ I remember moving to L.A. when I was 18, and my roommate had endo, and I was like, ‘Well, that sounds too medical, and I have no idea what that means. It’s over my head.’ But then I saw her and was like, ‘That looks like the kind of pain that I have.’ Again, I didn’t care because I was 18. Then I was on Dancing, during one of my last seasons as a dancer, and all of a sudden while I was dancing, something happened and I just doubled over. They cut to commercial, and my mom was in the audience that day, so she’s like, ‘You’re going to the hospital. I don’t care what you say.’ It took so long to figure out what was going on. Finally one doctor said, “I think you might have endometriosis, and it looks pretty bad.’ I needed surgery—I had it everywhere, to the point that they took my appendix out because it was so bad.”

Julianne Hough for Health Magazine's November 2017 issue

On what helps her pain:

“A hot bath. I have a hot water bottle that I call the boiling baby, and I sleep with it and put it next to me. Also, stretching and almost breaking a little bit of a sweat. You don’t have to, like, go for a run, but just getting my heart rate up helps with the blood flow.”

The ‘Riverdale’ Cast Cover Entertainment Weekly

Posted on 3 min read 56 views

The stars of the CW’s popular show Riverdale grace the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly issue, where they dish on what their characters will be up to in the show’s highly-anticipated second season (premiering Oct 11!).

Check out what each cast member had to say about what’s going on with their characters in Season 2 below!

KJ Apa for Entertainment Weekly

KJ Apa

When Riverdale picks up in Season 2, Archie will be reeling from the aftermath of his father’s shooting and will be out for revenge — a storyline that’s new to KJ and has pushed his acting further than ever before:

“To be fair, I read that first episode of the second season and I was thinking I don’t know if I’m good enough to do this,” KJ said. “I’m a new actor. I’m new to this kind of material and I was cushioning myself. I really have learned a lot this season and I think I’ve shot some of the best stuff I’ve ever done.”

Cole Sprouse for Entertainment Weekly

Cole Sprouse

As for Jughead, the Riverdale narrator will be caught between his new life at South Side High and his old life, and may potentially even join up with the Serpents.

“He undergoes a kind of radical vulnerability and change,” Cole said. “His morality is going to be really tested. It’s one of those things where Jughead is the perspective character. We see the world through his lens. He’s the soul of Riverdale. So in my own way and for the audience, whatever happens to Jughead can be seen as the world in total.”

Camila Mendes for Entertainment Weekly

Veronica’s life is also changing in the new season with the return of her father Hiram (Mark Consuelos).

“She wants to be respected as a member of the family and neither Hiram nor Hermione [Marisol Nichols] are allowing to be part of that,” Camila said. “They have a plan for Riverdale and they keep it very secret.”

Lili Reinhart for Entertainment Weekly

Betty Cooper will also go through some rough times in the new season, with a strained relationship with Jughead and this season’s new mystery.

“Not only is Betty dealing with the separation between her and her boyfriend but being in the middle of something she completely did not ask for,” Lili said. “She’s so young. Your heart goes out to Betty in season two. She gets put in the middle of a sh– storm.”

Ashleigh Murray for Entertainment Weekly

Ashleigh Murray

Josie will be a full-fledged member of the gang in season 2, and the budding singer could also be looking to go solo in the new season:

“There is talk of possibly Josie exploring the option of going a solo route. It’s gonna cause some issues if that does come up,” said Ashleigh.

Madelaine Petsch for Entertainment Weekly

Madelaine Petsch

As for Cheryl, the fiery redhead will be rising from the ashes of her burnt home this season:

“I think a lot of people read her trying to burn the house down as her breaking but it was her pulling herself together and telling her mom she’s not going to take any more crap and she’s in charge now,” said Madelaine. “She’s hell hath no fury like Cheryl scorned.”

Casey Cott for Entertainment Weekly

Casey Cott

Kevin Keller will also be a regular character this season: “Betty kinda left Kevin hanging a little last season,” Casey said. “I think he’s lonely and it’s time maybe he says something.”

Dove Cameron Channels Marilyn Monroe for Galore Magazine

Posted on 3 min read 57 views

Actress/Singer Dove Cameron shows off some glamorous ’50s styles on the newest issue of Galore Magazine, where she dished on her role in Disney’s Descendants, her new music and on being a role model for young girls.

On playing Maleficent’s daughter in Descendants:

“I associated more with the villains when I was younger. I mean I think the villains, all across the board, are always more interesting people. I always loved Maleficent because she’s the most evil of them all, and if you’re going to like a villain, you might as well go all in. “The Descendants” franchise continues to be one of my absolute favorite things I’ve ever done with my time.”

Dove Cameron Galore Magazine

On what evil characters can teach girls:

“So much of what I’m about is positivity and really keeping your thoughts and intentions pure. I think so much of what’s happening in society today is causing people to develop major anxiety. The world is getting more and more insane. But, I do think that we can learn from the evil characters that intensity is ok. I think we need to preach to girls that being complicated is allowed. I think a lot of people glorify being simple and sweet and easy. And I think a lot of girls are terrified to be high maintenance. I think evil girls focus on themselves a little bit more. And show it’s ok to be powerful. I think that’s something we can all take away.”

Dove Cameron Galore Magazine

On Being Labeled a Disney Channel kid:

“I anticipated that I would be [labeled] when I was 14, and I was scared about labels and the sort of things that come along with the Disney Channel but I found it’s genuinely brought nothing but light and genuine love under my feet and into my life. They’ve been so supportive. Truly, it was the most educational experience I could have ever asked for. I think that Disney Channel presents an amazing platform, obviously, but also a huge safety net, and warmth. You don’t realize everything they give to you. It’s an unparalleled way to be introduced to television and music. They’ve done nothing but teach me and take care of me.”

Dove Cameron Galore Magazine

On Being a Role Model:

“I take that very seriously. I love my younger audience, I love doing things that are for my younger audience and as I’m growing, I do things for my older audience as well, but I keep those things separate. I have a great relationship with both fan bases. I love children and I’m very passionate about young minds and I think children need to be taken very seriously.”

Dove Cameron Galore Magazine

On Her Upcoming Music:

“I’ve been promising my fans an album for some time now. I’m making a lot of moves in that direction.”

“I have a lot of influences and I don’t want to give anything away about the things I’m currently working on. I’ve been promising it for so long that my fans deserve a bit of a reveal. It is definitely going to be what a lot of fans would expect for me, but then I think for a lot [of fans], not what they would expect from me.”

Dominic Sherwood Talks ‘Shadowhunters’ in Glamoholic

Posted on 2 min read 143 views

Actor Dominic Sherwood covers the newest issue of Glamoholic magazine, in which he opens up on his Freeform series Shadowhunters, and what it’s like to play the role of Jace Wayland.

On His Favorite Moment of Season 1:

“It’s so hard to pick. But I like the way the season ended. Jace went through such a huge transition and “morning star” was a culmination of all that.”

Dominic Sherwood Glamoholic

On the Most Challenging Part of Playing Jace:

“Delving feeling into a quite damaged mind of Jace. And on top of that having to hide it within layers of cockiness and arrogance. That been said, that was also one of my favourite parts about season 1.”

Dominic Sherwood Glamoholic

On Working with the Cast of Shadowhunters:

“It’s amazing to work with actors that work hard. That always makes the whole experience more fun and easier as you end up very comfortable with everyone around you.”

Dominic Sherwood Glamoholic

On What to Expect in Season 2:

“I haven’t been told a lot but I can tease. So 1- Jace gets worse before he gets better, 2- there will be a lot of Clace and MALEC and 3- we may be meeting the Seelie queen.”

Dominic Sherwood Glamoholic

On the Shadowhunters Fanbase:

“It’s a weird mix of pressure and support. It’s fantastic having people behind us, whatever we do. But also we have to try and put that to one side on set and just worry about the filming, the task at hand.”

Dominic Sherwood Glamoholic

On What he has in Common with Jace:

“Not a huge amount. I definitely don’t have any Angel blood! But the more I played him the more I connected with him.”

Dominic Sherwood Glamoholic

You can read more from Dominic’s interview here!

Season 2 of Shadowhunters will return in 2017.

Cara Delevingne Glams Up the September Issue of ELLE

Posted on 2 min read 47 views

Actress/Model Cara Delevingne sparkles in sequins on the new September 2016 issue of Elle magazine.

In the new issue, the Suicide Squad star opens up on how yoga helps keep her on track, why she’s open about her struggles, and on learning how to be open with her emotions.

On Yoga:

“For me, yoga’s the only way I can really feel things and check how I am. Because there is always pain somewhere, even if it’s completely irrational pain, and it’s always good to find it and get it out. If I don’t cry pretty much every day I will hold it in, and it will manifest in me in things that are destructive, like my skin.”

Cara Delevingne Elle

On Being Open about her Struggles:

“I couldn’t just sit there and listen to these girls, and boys, too, but usually girls, say this stuff, about bullying, about their sexuality, depression, and guilt and suicidal thoughts and just all of it, without being like, ‘I have been through that, and it’s going to be okay.’ If I can help a teenager go through a better time than they should be, then I am going to fucking do that. I mean, fucking being a teenager suuuccccks. And I somehow came through the other end.”

Cara Delevingne Elle

On Having to Cry On-Screen:

“I don’t think I have ever, ever cried in front of more than one person ever, ever, because I grew up in this very ‘Emotion is weak, head up, move on, onward and upward’ kind of way. Which is not healthy.”

“Will Smith was telling me he brought up his kids to put their emotions first, and when I heard that, I was just like, ‘Oh my God, that sounds like a fairy tale,’ because emotions should be put first. It’s the most important thing. No, I’m not going to start crying.”

Chloe Moretz for Net-A-Porter

On Working with her Mother and Brother on their Production Company:

“As an actor, I suppose [I’m the boss], but we’re on the same level on the producing side. I’m never bossy, though; it’s so unconducive to creativity.”

Sophie Turner Shows Off her Sporty Side for SELF Magazine

Posted on 2 min read 46 views

Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner graces the new June 2016 issue of SELF magazine, where she dishes on her how she got in shape for X-Men: Apocalypse, the similarities between her characters, and how a healthy lifestyle has changed her.

On Growing up on the Game of Thrones Set:

“[It] makes you grow up faster. But it also ignites that playfulness within you.”

Sophie Turner Self Magazine

On Prepping for X-Men:

“I needed to get in shape—and quick!” Sophie says.

“During the shoot I went hard. And that hasn’t stopped.”

To get in shape, Sophie did full-body workouts for three months doing everything from hill sprints, kettlebells, resistance bands, and burpees: “It was all outside, around London, which was more fun than being cooped up in a gym. I need to do fun stuff that takes my mind off the fact that I’m working out.”

Sophie Turner Self Magazine

On Exercise and Eating Healthy:

“Exercise has made me feel more positive about my body, less self-conscious. I don’t know if I look any different, but I feel stronger, and I can do more, which is such a good feeling. It’s so liberating.”

Sophie Turner Self Magazine

On the Similarities Between her GoT and X-Men Characters and Herself:

“Both Jean and Sansa are strong characters with such great arcs. Neither starts out strong, but they find that power within them, whether literally or metaphorically.”

“I found a lot of parallels between Jean and myself psychologically. Her journey is trying to figure out who she is, surviving the hormones and the boys, which are loaded on top of the fact that she’s a superpowerful mutant. I haven’t had that last bit to deal with! But I’ve had the challenge of growing up and having horrible skin and all the things that make you feel uncomfortable as a teenager, and knowing that everyone can see it—because 50 percent of them point it out to you.”

You can read more from Sophie’s interview here. Also, be sure to pick up the new June 2016 issue of SELF to see her full feature!

X-Men Apocalypse hits theatres on May 27th.
