Meghan Trainor Reveals Who She Wrote ‘Just a Friend to You’ For

Posted on 2 min read 84 views

After releasing her new album Thank You last Friday, Meghan Trainor has revealed who inspired her ballad, Just a Friend To You.

In an interview with People, Meghan reveals that the song is about one of her own real-life relationships:

“[It’s] about this situation that I had since I was 18,” she says. “We live in different places and it can never work out, but for some reason, we always come back to each other and we’re always like, ‘We shouldn’t do this!’ ”

Meghan says that the song is: “one of the favorite songs I’ve ever written in my entire life. Just every part is perfect. The lyrics in the chorus are very heartbreaking and real.”

After recording the track, Meghan says she “put the headphones on his head and said ‘Listen, wrote you a song.’ I teared up, and he was like, ‘I didn’t know, but I hoped.’ We were both trying to tell each other that we love each other because we thought it would never happen, and then we finally exploded and was like, ‘Hi, I have to tell you I love you no matter what happens.”

However, the Me Too singer reveals that she’s still single.

“I’m just dating myself,” she says. “If I have little flings, they always die ’cause of the schedule, or the guy’s not right. It’s a tough job to date a pop star! Whoever will be able to do it will be the one.”

Meghan Trainor talks new album ‘Thank You’: “It’s more of the music that I enjoy”

Posted on 2 min read 67 views

With just one day to go until the release of Meghan Trainor‘s new album Thank You, the No singer has dished on what fans can expect from her second album in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“It’s more of the music that I enjoy,” she says. “I was afraid that I would be trapped as a doo-wop artist from that first album, so this one I wanted to prove that I can do more genres.”

Meghan revealed that her songs were inspired by pop songs from the late ’90s and early ’00s. She says that while writing her hit No, she thought: “What do I wish was still on the radio? And I was like, ‘*NSYNC, Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears.'”

As for her song written for her mom titled Mom, Meghan says:

“You know the Britney Spears song, ‘Lucky’? Where it’s like, a big bomb and then it has the, ‘And here she is, it’s Lucky!’ I was like, ‘I want one of those,'” she says. “So we called [my mom] up at work and I was just like, ‘I love you, I love you so much. Just tell me you love me’ and we recorded it and got it.'”

“I texted her after and she’s like, ‘Ugh! I hate you!'” she added. “‘Cause, you know, you hear your voice — on a phone call especially — and you’re like, ‘Is that what I sound like?’ So she said, ‘If this doesn’t make the album, that’s OK.’ I was like ‘Ma! It’s gonna be on there.'”

Later on this summer, Meghan will be hitting the road on her Untouchable Tour to perform for fans across North America – starting on July 21.

Meghan reveals that the tour will be: “bigger, with more dancers and new songs, new routines — and we’re jumping this time. We’re dancing a lot. It’s gonna be great, I can’t wait!”

Be sure to check out Meghan’s new album Thank You when it drops tomorrow (May 13)!

WATCH: Meghan Trainor’s New Music Video for ‘Me Too’!

Posted on 1 min read 101 views

After much drama and buzz surrounding the video, Meghan Trainor has just released the official, approved music video for her new single Me Too.

The singer initially released the video on Monday (May 9), but soon pulled it off the web when she realized that her waist had been photoshopped to look smaller.

Now that her team has returned her waist to its normal size, Meghan has released the video back onto the web for her fans to enjoy before her album Thank You drops on Friday (May 13).

During an interview with Howard Stern this morning, Meghan discussed the mishap in a bit more detail, admitting that she looked over the video before it went live, but failed to notice the waist photoshopping beforehand.

She said: “I asked, ‘hey, can you hide my mustache and take off my mole-hair – those close-ups, you never know … But I never said ‘cut off my rib.”

“I saw screenshots that the fans were taking on Instagram, and I was like, ‘why are the fans messing with my waist?’ And I was like, that’s not the fans, that’s my video. And I must have not even seen it.”

She later said: “I’m the poster child for no Photoshop, that is my thing! I was skinnier than those dancers, who are also very skinny. So when you do that, everyone knows that ain’t real.”

Meghan Trainor Pulls Her ‘Me Too’ Music Video After Seeing She Was Photoshopped

Posted on 1 min read 58 views

Singer Meghan Trainor released a new music video for her song Me Too on Monday (May 9), but quickly removed the video from the web after discovering that her team had photoshopped her waist without her permission.

The No singer later took to her Snapchat to explain to fans why she decided to remove the video, saying:

“My waist is not that teeny. I had a bomb waist that night, I don’t know why they didn’t like my waist. I didn’t approve that video and it went out for the world, so I’m embarrassed.”

The song is just one of the many that Meghan has released off of her upcoming album Thank You, which will be released this Friday (May 13). The album will feature her hit single No, along with her previously released songs Watch Me Do, Mom, I Love Me, and Better.
