After her fourth album DEMI was released just 3 days ago, Demi Lovato‘s latest record has already shot to the top of the charts worldwide. During an interview with MTV, Demi revealed that with her new album she’s aiming to reach a wider audience to have her voice heard.
“With this album we are going towards a more mainstream audience,” Demi explained. “So if there’s a lot of people out there who don’t know who I am because they didn’t watch ‘X Factor’ or Disney channel or whatever, it is. And so this is the first time that some people are going to be seeing me, and I wanted them to really get to know who I am, but now you do, I’m going to tell you.”
Demi also opened up about the new tracks on the album, which she wrote 10 out of the 13 songs featured. With a lot of the music, I feel if you are only signing other people’s songs it makes it harder for people to understand your story and relate. So it was my goal to write every single song on the album and then I fell in love with songs I didn’t write, but who cares…still sound good.”
“I’m in a really good place. I’m grateful for everything,” She continued. “I’m also at a place where I’m in acceptance of every single heartbreak that I’ve had. I hold no resentments towards anyone, even towards the people that inspire the really emotional songs. I’m over it and now I just want to share my experience with people.”
Demi even admitted that her favorite song at the moment from her album is Made in the USA! Could it be her next single?
As she continues to prepare for the release of her fourth album, singer Selena Gomez has admitted that she’s still trying to find her way in the world, and aims to exude confidence on her new record.
While chatting with MTV, Selena said: “With everything that I’ve been through, I wanted to exude confidence, because I’m only 20, I’ll be 21 this year, so I’m still figuring out what on earth I am or what I’m doing. So for me, I wanted to make sure that’s what my music said.”
Although fans haven’t heard it yet, Selena is already excited about the new songs featured on the new album, saying that there is one song she really connects with: ” ‘Slow Down’ is one of my favorite tracks on the record,” Selena said.
“It’s basically just about having this moment and not having to rush it, because I don’t know how many times I’ve been like, ‘I just want to be married and over this,’ but this is what we’re supposed to be enjoying. So that’s really more of what I wanted the album to be about, because I think, through people’s opinions and everything that happens, they’re expecting something else, but I just want it to exude confidence and strength.”
Sel even admitted that she does get a little personal with a song on the album, perhaps it’s the song she wrote about Justin Bieber?
“With anything that I do, I feel like people assume that I say something that they get or they know, at the end of the day, it’s super private to me,” she said. “It’s definitely important for me to keep that, but there is one song on the album I wanted to share a little bit more than I’ve ever shared before. It’s a really pretty song. It is the only ballad, but the rest of the time, I like keeping a little mystery, because whether I tell you everything you want to know right now, they are still going to twist it and turn it into something else.”
The record isn’t the only place Selena likes to get a little personal, the 20-year-old admitted that sometimes she gets a little TOO personal while touring!
“Half the time I’m too honest onstage when I’m performing. I’m like, ‘I wanted to tell you guys … ‘ and my team is like, ‘No!’ ” she laughed. “But as an artist, whether it’s acting, performing, singing, writing, you want to share that, because that’s where you want the outlet to go. You want to have people understand you a little, but better, but in your own interpretation.”
You can catch Selena on her upcoming Stars Dance tour, which begins this August!
During a recent press session with MTV, singer Selena Gomez answered some fan twitter questions, including what she’s looking forward to on her upcoming tour!
A fan asked the Come and Get It singer what she’s looking forward to performing the most while on her upcoming Stars Dance tour.
“At the moment probably ‘Save the Day,’” Selena said. “It’s a song on the album and it’s really fun, fast paced. I’m excited for people to hear it. I think with this record I wanted to do that more than any of the other records that I’ve done. I wanted to make sure when I performed that even if you didn’t know the song you would feel good and want to move, so that was super important to me.”
Sel also revealed during the session who she’d love to work with in the future: “Ryan Gosling,” Selena said. “Just to look at him.”
Finally, what is Selena’s pet peeve? “try to be cool or not polite.”
