With just a couple weeks to go until the big premiere of Nickelodeon’s new show Sam & Cat, the stars of the show Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy sat down to talk about their new show, as well as their real-life friendship!

Both girls are known for being singers, however, they revealed that they will not be singing on the new show!

“We don’t sing it ” Ariana told Just Jared Jr. “Michael Corcoran sings it, who did the theme song for iCarly and all the songs on Victorious.”

“Basically, Dan Schneider, the producer, he asked us ahead of time if we wanted to sing and we just didn’t want to.” Jennette added. “We wanted to make a show that was funny and that really focused on one thing, and entertaining kinds. Our music definitely does that too, but we kind of wanted to keep it separate.”

Ariana continued, “And every other show is musically-driven now, since Hannah Montana, so we wanted to do something classic, a classic TV show. And the vibe of the theme song, the first time you hear it, it sounds like a classic.”

As for Ariana and Jennette, the pair were already pals beforehand from working with Nickelodeon. When asked about their first impressions of each other, Ariana said “‘Wow, she’s the coolest.’”

“I thought Ariana was so fun and so friendly to people.” Jennette said. “It was at a promo shoot and Nathan and I were hanging out, and she came right over, gave us hugs, and was like, “Hi! I watch iCarly.” I told her I looked up one of her songs, “Stick Around.” I told her she had an amazing voice. We started talking about iCarly and we found out we have the same birthday, we were singing “Jingle Bells” together. It was good memories.”

“It was fun! I was like, “Oh my gosh, Mom, Jennette is so cool!”” Ariana said.

Jennette added, “You called Nathan and I “babies.””

“That was my thing back then. I called everyone “babies.”” Ariana said. “Like, “Oh my god, that’s babies.” It made no sense, but at 14, that was like the cool thing to me.”

Nickelodean star Ariana Grande was front and center yesterday (May 11) at the 2013 Wango Tango Concert. The actress/singer was one of the performers during this years’ concert, taking to the stage to perform her current single The Way.

Ariana hit the red carpet showing off her toned stomach in a hot pink crop top and matching skirt, before changing into a pink sparkly dress for her performance.

While on-stage, Ariana also performed the Whitney Huston hit I Believe in You and Me!

In the meantime, Ariana’s show Sam & Cat with Jeanette McCurdy was just picked up by Nickelodeon and will premiere this June!

With the special one-hour premiere airing TONIGHT on Teen Nick, Degrassi stars Annie Clark and Munro Chambers chatted about the juicy 11th season, telling us what toexpect!

On their Emmy Nomination: Annie Clark: It was my day to sleep in but as soon as I saw that email I was like, “I need to tell everyone!” It was pretty exciting!

Munro Chambers: I was sleeping and I got an email saying, “Guys, we’re nominated for an Emmy!” and I was like, “Okay?” I kind of just read it and went back to bed because I was like, “No, I have to be dreaming.” But then I woke up and read it again and everyone on Twitter was saying we are nominated. It’s pretty cool. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

What’s Happening this Season: MC: We’re just jumping it again—we’re tackling issues that people go through everyday. But I can say that in the first episode there’s going to be an unexpected murder that will really set the tone for the season! There’s going to be relationships made and relationships ending. You’re going to see a couple of characters leave. There’s going to be a triangle that will really make it awkward for some of the characters. You’ll want to watch it!

AC: This season, drama still ensues but Fiona is a little tamer than we last saw her in the past. She’s kind of going into the new school year a little bit more sophisticated and a little bit more clear-headed. She’s done with the drinking for now. You never know what’s going to happen though! She has a new love interest. Things don’t seem like they ever work out for her so this is actually someone who is pretty good for her. So we’ll see where that goes!

On Annie’s Character’s Relationships: AC: Yes, yes! She is! It’ll be her first real lesbian relationship because before, it was kind of the unrequited love with Holly J, which wasn’t really happening, and then Adam which was kind of a different relationship too. It’s her first normal relationship with someone who wants the same thing that she does.

On the Clare/Eli/Jake Love Triangle: MC: That may only be the acute love triangle that I was talking about. Jake’s going to get into stuff for better or worse. Eli and Clare are going to be working together, maybe not in a romance setting, but they will be in each other’s lives whether they like it or not and Jake gets in the middle of it. Jake’s a strapping young lad. He’s played by Justin Kelly—who’s actually my best friend outside of the show. We worked together on the show called The Latest Buzz. He’s a fantastic actor. He’s going to do great this season but his character gets in the middle of stuff. Also, it’s a triangle but it becomes a quartet too—like a square.

On Munro’s Relationship Status: I’m currently in love with my work. I’m dating her.

New episodes of Degrassi started up again last night (October 8th), with new episodes airing on Friday nights at 9pm on Teen Nick and Much Music!

On the next episode of Degrassi, Declan comes back to Degrassi to win Holly J back, while Clare shows off her wild side for Eli. Be sure to watch Love Lockdown on Friday!
