Zayn Malik on his relationship with former One Direction members: “Everything is on a civil level”

Posted on 2 min read 76 views

After abruptly parting ways with One Direction in March 2015, singer Zayn Malik has revealed that he still keeps in touch with his former bandmates and that everything is civil.

“We’re in touch,” Zayn said in a recent interview with US Weekly. “Everything is on a civil level. It’s not the way it used to be, obviously, because we were spending 24 hours a day in the band and now we’re growing as individual men, but we still check in.”

Zayn did reveal, however, that the member of the group he was never really close with was Harry Styles:

“To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band,” he said. “So I didn’t really expect that much of a relationship with him.”

As for whether Zayn would be up for a 1D reunion, he said: “Who knows? I’ve said it before: Never say never.”

While Zayn’s former bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne both have kids now, Zayn has revealed that he doesn’t feel pressure to settle down and start a family.

“I don’t think things like that should be decided based on feeling pressure. When it’s the right time and place, hopefully that will happen. Who knows when that will be,” he said.

In the meantime, Zayn has been hard at work on his second album, which he says:

“We’ve got some big people working on stuff. There’s soulful R&B tunes, club tunes, some pop songs. It’s a progression. My writing’s grown and I feel like I’ve grown. I just wanted to get all of that in the album and give people some new music.”

Liam Payne on Harry Styles’ New Music: “I think he did a great job doing what he wanted to do”

Posted on 1 min read 53 views

Liam Payne recently sat down with Music Choice while promoting his debut solo single Strip that Down, where he shared his thoughts on the new solo music his former One Direction bandmates have released so far.

“Niall had ‘Slow Hands’ out and he had ‘This Town,’ which is great,” Liam said of Niall Horan‘s new songs. “And Niall’s gone down the singer-songwriter-y route which is really cool.”

As for Harry Styles, who released his debut single Sign of the Times last month before releasing his album last week, Liam said:

“Harry’s song I heard, and I’ll be honest with you, it’s not my sort of music so it’s not something I’d listen to. But I think he did a great job doing what he wanted to do. That’s the way I’d put it best, I think.”

“And I think the funny thing is, he’d say the same thing about me,” Liam continued, explaining that his hip-hop music is not something Harry would generally listen to.

Liam’s new single Strip that Down will be released tomorrow (May 18)!

Louis Tomlinson on when One Direction will Reunite: “No one knows the answer right now”

Posted on 1 min read 77 views

If you’ve been looking forward to a One Direction reunion, don’t hold your breath just yet.

1D member Louis Tomlinson spoke about the group’s plans to reunite with Rolling Stone while promoting his new single Just Hold On, saying, “No one knows the answer right now. Everyone’s just enjoying a schedule that’s not as relentless and exploring solo projects.”

“I think that’s what it’s all about,” Louis said. “People love to write what they want to write but there’s no bitterness.”

As for his song Just Hold On, Louis revealed that he wanted to do a song that was different from the music he made with One Direction.

“I wanted to do something that was different enough to One Direction, but not too far away that it’s going to alienate the One Direction fans,” he said.

Zayn Malik Covers L’Uomo Vogue’s January 2016 Issue

Posted on 2 min read 82 views

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik goes solo for the new January 2016 cover of L’Uomo Vogue.

In the Big in 2016 issue, Zayn chats about venturing away from his boyband days and into a solo career:

“Now that I can really be myself and make music that feels honest to me, it doesn’t feel like work. It really is relaxing to me,” Zayn says. “When I decided to leave, it wasn’t a big build up, it had always been underlying. I never felt like I belonged in the group, I was just doing it because at the time, I felt like it was the right place for me to be.”

Zayn Malik L'Uomo Vogue

When asked if his mysterious, bad boy persona was intentional, Zayn laughs: “To be honest, I mentally and physically distanced myself from what I was doing creatively because I didn’t want any part of it really. It didn’t feel like I was really being me.”

Zayn Malik L'Uomo Vogue

As for staying in touch with his former bandmates, Zayn says: “the truth is I haven’t spoken to any of the boys at all really, I spoke to Liam a bit and that’s just the way it is. I did try to reach out to a couple of people and they didn’t get back to me, but then publicly, when they were asked questions about it, said that they’d spoken to me and that we were friends. But that’s not the case, I tried to reach out and be their friend but they haven’t even replied to any of my calls or texts”.

Zayn adds, “no competition between me and the boys, I didn’t leave for any reasons of animosity, I just wanted to do me”.

“I just want this album to be about me and me standing on my own two feet. I’ve sung with four other voices for over four years now so I want to hear myself, alone for once”.

Zayn Malik L'Uomo Vogue

Be sure to pick up the new issue of L’Uomo Vogue for Zayn’s full feature! He is also celebrating his 23rd birthday today – happy birthday Zayn!

One Direction to Appear on FOX’s ‘Family Guy’ This May

Posted on 1 min read 71 views

While the boys of One Direction may be on a break from making new music, fans will have a chance to hear their voices once more during their special guest appearance on the popular FOX animated television series Family Guy later this year.

EW has reported that the upcoming episode featuring 1D “centers on Chris running for homecoming king, [and] features the foursome — Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson — in a campfire scene with Stewie, who tells them a scary story involving non-skinny jeans.”

According to EW, only Liam and Louis have recorded lines for the episode, meaning that Niall and Harry’s characters won’t be speaking during their appearance.

“There are not a lot of shows that, in the same season, feature guest-star appearances by both Frank Sinatra, Jr. and One Direction,” executive producers Richard Appel and Steve Callaghan said in a statement. “And we really enjoyed their time with us, until we realized we were both old enough to be their fathers.”

The Family Guy episode featuring 1D is called Run, Chris, Run and will air this May on FOX.
