Listen: Selena Gomez and Marshmello’s New Song ‘Wolves’

Posted on 2 min read 216 views

After teasing her new collaboration with Marshmello on social media over the past week, Selena Gomez‘s new song Wolves has officially dropped!

In the song, Selena sings about doing everything she can to get to the one she loves, singing: “I’ve been running through the jungle / I’ve been running with the wolves / to get to you, to get to you / I’ve been down the darkest alleys / saw the dark side of the moon / to get to you, to get to you”

The Fetish singer also dished about the song during a recent interview with Apple Music, saying: “This was a song that I heard in Japan for the first time, and I was talking to Andrew Watt, who’s one of the writers I’ve worked with for years, and he actually just played be a rough version and I thought it was really beautiful.”

“He sent it to Marshmello and we ended up talking. We created a really cool tone and a story with it, and the song is very beautiful and personal and the lyrics just have a whole story of its own,” Selena said. “Weirdly, at the same time I was working on it in Japan, I was going through stuff too so it’s mirrored everything.”

Selena Gomez Announces New Partnership With Puma

Posted on 3 min read 91 views

Selena Gomez is adding yet another brand to her list of partnerships!

The Bad Liar singer announced her new partnership with Puma on Monday, sharing a new photo of herself in some Puma gear on her Instagram page, writing: “Officially a part of the fam @puma #pumapartner.”

According to Vogue, Selena will help design products and direct future campaigns with the brand, and will also be bringing more attention to Puma through her 127 million Instagram followers.

During her interview with Vogue, Selena also opened up on her new collaboration, saying:

“I’m really excited. When it comes to this whole world of fashion—that’s what I’m going to call it—I think it’s become this collaborative thing where streetwear and fashion blend into one. It’s a really beautiful thing because I see girls now feeling sexy in not even necessarily workout clothes, but clothes you could go work out in, then put on a cute pair of shoes and go out after. That’s what’s so crazy about now. Even just throwing something over a workout pant or just sweats, you kind of feel like you can do whatever you want.”

On the athleisure trend:

“I think it’s important to feel confident in what you wear. That’s all I really care about—I want to make sure anything I put on, I feel good in, because how you’re feeling on the outside really does affect how you are on the inside.”

On her workout wear:

“When I’m at home, it can be very intimate. Maybe just a sports bra and maybe some little spanky kind of cute things. And when I’m out, then it’s the typical: something slouchy that feels sexy that I can take off. It’s about layering and cute little socks.”

“I add little chains to my socks because it adds a little charm, a little sparkle to it. Little anklets, actually. Me and my assistant got a bunch from Japan when I was on tour. I went through this whole phase where I would just wear the anklet around and shower in it. It’s effortless. I lose things—for me, it’s got to be on me, you know what I mean?”

On how much thought she puts into her outfits:

“It depends. I don’t like when people feel like they need to put things together or be stressed about that. That’s what’s really cool about what Puma’s been doing lately. It’s all these pieces that you know are going to look good together, so it’s just kind of throwing this on, throwing that on.”

“I mean, at this point, my boyfriend and I share closets, and [we’re] just kind of throwing different ideas around. Sometimes I’ll throw on his Puma stuff and just go out with my shoes. I’ll just wear that as a little cute date-night dress or something to the movies. You want to feel confident in it. When you start stressing about it and feel you have to create this image . . . you shouldn’t feel that way.”

Demi Lovato on Selena Gomez’s Kidney Transplant: “She is a very strong woman”

Posted on 2 min read 75 views

While Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato may not be as tight as they used to be, Demi still has nothing but the kindest words to say about Selena.

This week, Selena revealed that she underwent kidney transplant surgery earlier this summer because of her Lupus, which came as a surprise to many since Selena has kept most of the details about her struggle with Lupus under wraps.

“I think that she is a very strong woman,” Demi told People last night while promoting her new album Tell Me You Love Me in LA.

“I’m very happy and proud of her,” she said.

Demi isn’t the only celebrity to speak out about Selena’s surgery — other stars like Lady Gaga, Kesha and more have taken to Twitter over the last couple of days to send their well wishes to the Bad Liar singer.

In the meantime, Selena has been back at work in New York City filming a new Woody Allen movie, while Demi is preparing to drop her new album in just a few more weeks on Sept. 29.

Selena Gomez reveals she had a kidney transplant this summer because of her Lupus

Posted on 2 min read 107 views

Actress/Singer Selena Gomez took to her Instagram on Thursday to open up to fans about what she was up to this summer.

Selena shared a slideshow of pictures of herself in the hospital and showing off a scar, revealing that she underwent surgery earlier this summer to receive a kidney transplant from her close friend (and former Secret Life of the American Teenager star) Francia Raisa because of her Lupus.

“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of,” Selena wrote.

“So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made. Selena Gomez opens up on the importance of mental health: “I have to take care of myself and not feel guilty about it”

Posted on 3 min read 64 views

Since cancelling her 2016 tour early to seek treatment for depression and anxiety, singer/actress Selena Gomez has regularly spoken out on the importance of mental health. Now, Selena has opened up once again to theBusiness of Fashion magazine about her mental health journey, discussing the importance of being educated on mental health and the things she thinks young people should know about mental health.

On the importance of learning about Mental Health:

“When I took time to learn about my feelings and my frustrations, and where things stemmed from, there was this huge fog lifted from my life because then I understood it,” Selena explained.

I think it should be a part of middle school. You know how in kindergarten they teach you the smiley face and the sad face and the angry face — ‘these are the feelings you’re feeling.’ I love that, but I think it should be more sophisticated and brought into middle school and high school because it is something that we need to figure out. People are struggling with something every day and they think, ‘Oh it’s just high school, or I’m not great enough, or it’s because I’m so great.’ It’s all about learning. I hope we are the generation that gets to bring that up a little bit more, but I do believe it’s always been there,” she said.

On the important things people should know about mental health:

“First [is] to educate yourself, to ask somebody that you respect,” Selena said. “Don’t say, ‘Oh I should ask everybody around me in my class if this is something I should do,’ but ask somebody you respect. I asked teachers, coaches, managers, people that I respected [because of] the way they’ve lived their life. I asked them, ‘How did you get to this place? What were you like when you were 25? What were the things that you were thinking about?'”

On surrounding yourself with like-minded people:

You are who you surround yourself with — 100 percent,” she said.

If you’re around people who think that stuff is dumb, that think it’s ridiculous — ‘You’re crazy! You’re fine!’ — but you don’t feel that way, then maybe it’s time to reevaluate that,” Selena said.

It’s a lonely journey to really figure out where all this stuff is coming from. And to detach from it. It becomes an addiction, it becomes a habit, retraining your mind to not go to these negative places when you say something wrong, do something wrong, when you wear a certain thing or represent a certain culture. But it is lonely, I had to lose a lot of people in my life to get there.

“You have to figure out the people that are in your circle,” Selena continued. “I feel like I know everybody but have no friends. [Laughs] I have like three good friends that I can tell everything to, but I know everyone. I go anywhere and I’m like, ‘Hey guys, how’s it going?’ And it feels great to be connected to people, but having boundaries is so important,” she said.

You have to have those few people that respect you, want the best for you and you want the best for them. It sounds cheesy, but it’s hard.”

On whether she would have experienced the same issues if she wasn’t famous:

“I think I would have all of the same issues,” Selena said. “I think mine are amplified just a little bit only because of the public aspect, but I do think they’re very similar. When it comes to the internal stuff — the insecurities, growing up, friendships, family, mental health, all of that stuff.”

On how she copes so she doesn’t fall back into a bad place:

“Balance the power of saying no and self-care,” she said. “I have to take care of myself and not feel guilty about it. I will say no when I need to say no, and I will make sure that I will not overdo everything because I feel like if I don’t accept everything that’s happening then maybe it seems like I’m ungrateful, or I’m not doing enough. I just have to take care of myself. Therapy, faith, hard work, kindness. That’s it.”

Selena Gomez on fame: “It changed when I started getting known for things that weren’t my work”

Posted on 4 min read 59 views

Singer/actress Selena Gomez has been in the spotlight for 18 years. Now, Selena has opened up to Business of Fashion for their ‘Generation Next’ issue on what it was like being a child star, and how growing up in the spotlight changed her idea of fame.

On being a child star

“I’ve been doing it since I was seven,” Selena said. “To be honest I don’t think I know anything different. It was good training, but I’m going to give the credit to my mom, because she was very aware, for some reason, of what could happen to me.

“She always said to me that I should have fun, and if it wasn’t fun or if I wasn’t learning something or I wasn’t growing as a person, she wanted to take me out of it. She said, ‘This entire industry is going to tell you you’re perfect and you’re great, and I’m going to tell you that you’re no better or bigger than anyone. You are the person that you are, and you are very lucky,'” she said.

“That’s something that’s always been replaying in my head. She just taught me to be kind, and that’s about understanding where I’m at. But it got harder the older I was getting. I was actually more confident when I was younger than I am now.”

On how her idea of fame has changed

“I think it changed when I started getting known for things that weren’t [related to] my work,” Selena said. “That’s when my passion started to really feel like it was going further and further away. And that scared me.

“When I was younger, it was all fun to me. When I did state fairs and 100 people would show up, I would be stoked. That was the best feeling in the world. But when I got older, I started to become exposed to the truth behind some stuff and that’s when it flipped a little bit. I realised that, ‘Oh this is actually really hard, and kind of slimy in certain areas,’ and I didn’t realise that certain people wanted certain things from me. My confidence went through a lot with that.,” she said

“I remember just feeling really violated when I was younger, even just being on the beach. I was maybe 15 or 16 and people were taking pictures — photographers,” Selena explained. “I don’t think anyone really knew who I was. But I felt very violated and I didn’t like it or understand it, and that felt very weird, because I was a young girl and they were grown men. I didn’t like that feeling.

“Then, I would say the last season of my show, I was probably 18 years old, is when I felt like the flip happened. I didn’t feel like it was about my art as much. I was on the fourth season of the show, and I felt like I was outgrowing it. I wanted something different and obviously I fell in love for the first time. There was all this stuff that was happening and I didn’t know what to do,” she said.

“I stopped and then I continued, because I realised that I needed to challenge myself. Do I really love this? Is this worth it anymore? I would look at my crowd on tour and think, ‘Yes, this is worth it, right?’ But then I would look at myself in the mirror and I just felt like ‘I’ve had enough, I don’t know if I can go on anymore.’ And I stopped it for a second. But it didn’t mean that I didn’t love it, I just had to find what I was going to do with it. As long as I’m healthy and happy in my mind, I’m all about it.”

On where she’s going from here

“I’ve been through a lot, and I was so young, and there were so many moments where I felt like, ‘You know what, I’m done.’ But there is this fire in me that I can’t explain,” Selena said.

“I’ll have two days off and it burns. There’s something inside me that knows I’m supposed to be doing something. I want to be communicating and creating and being stimulated. I want to keep doing things, keep progressing. I always want to challenge myself. So, I want to do the best that I can possibly do. It’s cheesy but it’s the truth.”

Elle Fanning Reveals What It’s Like to have Selena Gomez Instagram a Picture of You

Posted on 1 min read 64 views

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have the most-followed person ever on Instagram post a picture of you?

Actress Elle Fanning found out first-hand when Selena Gomez posted a picture of Elle to her Instagram page, which has over 126 million followers.

While chatting with Vanity Fair an upcoming movie she’s filming with director Woody Allen, Elle said: “It’s with Selena Gomez. [I’ve] heard of her for sure, follow her on Instagram like probably everybody else.”

“It’s so funny because she posted a photo of me and Timothée Chalamet, he’s in the movie too, and she posted a photo of us on her Instagram,” Elle explained. “And I didn’t know that she had, and I woke up the next morning and I was like, ‘What happened to my Instagram?'”

“It was exploding with things. People were saying things, and this photo kept popping up, and I was just like ‘What happened?'” Elle said. “I guess that’s what happens when someone who has like a billion followers posts your face and tags you and starts following you. It was insane!”

“Finally I had met her and she was like, ‘I’m sorry I creepily the photo!’ and I was like, ‘No, keep doing it! It’s fine, I’m getting more followers from this!'”

Filming starts this week in New York for Woody Allen’s new untitled movie, which will also star Jude Law.
