She may already be an actress and a singer, but now 18-year-old Zendaya will also be taking on the role of UNICEF Spokesperson!
UNICEF has just announced that they are teaming up with Zendaya, who will be their 2014 Trick-or-Treat Spokesperson and will encourage kids in the U.S. to take part and make a difference for other kids by raising awareness and funds for the charity’s lifesaving programs.
Zendaya will appear as a “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF superhero” in advertisements and public service announcements, encouraging others to participate.
“I loved Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF when I was younger because it was such an empowering experience to be able to make a difference. Kids need more than candy; they need basics like medicine, nutrition and clean drinking water, and millions of them wouldn’t have these things without UNICEF,” Zendaya said in a press release, “I’m really excited to celebrate Halloween this year by inspiring a new generation of kids to be Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF superheroes that help save other kids’ lives.”
Kids can take part in the program by going door-to-door with the traditional UNICEF orange boxes to collect coin donations, or they can set up their own individual fundraising pages on Crowdrise for friends and family to make donations.
Donations collected through the program will be used to provide medicine, nutrition, clean water, emergency relief and education to children all over the world.
