Actors/Singer Ross Lynch recently premiered his new movie My Friend Dahmer during the Tribeca Film Festival, where he dished on his role playing a real-life serial killer.
The drama is based on the graphic novel by the same name and stars Ross as a young Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial killer who killed 17 young men before being arrested in 1991.
While the film may be based on real crimes, Ross admitted he didn’t know who Jefferey Dahmer was before the movie in an interview with Hollywood Life.
“I had no idea. My dad was like, ‘This cool script just came in, it’s about Jeffrey Dahmer.’ I’m like, ‘Who?’” he said. “He was like, ‘The serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer.’ Obviously, it intrigued me right off the bat.”
Ross also revealed what he did to get into the role, saying:
“When you’re playing someone real, you’re trying to get into their head. My whole world was consumed by Dahmer; I had this one video that I’d always reference, so it was kind of always around. After filming, it did take me a second to get back into the normal groove of life.”
