Nina Dobrev Reveals her MET Gala Dress was made with 3D Printing

Nina Dobrev‘s Met Gala look was truly futuristic.

The former Vampire Diaries star dished to E! News about her unique look for last night’s Camp: Notes on Fashion-themed gala, revealing that her dress was made through a collaboration with Zac Posen, GE Additive, and Protolabs and was printed at Protolabs’ 3D printing facility in Germany.

When speaking about her look, Nina revealed that Zac had a strong vision for her look and played a big role in its design.

“He had partnered with this company that…he designed it, so it’s designed by a man but made by technology, by a robot essentially,” she said. “It was printed, over 60 or so hours it took to print the mold and then the dress itself is a whole separate…it took about six to eight weeks from the original fitting until now.”

“And it takes a team of six people to put it on,” Nina said. “We’ve had a lot of fittings.”

Zac also commented on the dress, saying: “I think it’s fantastic. Nina was the perfect person to wear this dress.”
