Taylor Swift learns French, introduces new kitten in Behind the Scenes of ‘ME!’ video

Now that her ME! music video has smashed multiple records, Taylor Swift is giving fans an inside look at what went into creating her latest music video.

In a new clip shared to her YouTube page today, Taylor shows a behind-the-scenes look at the opening scene of the music video, in which she can be seen yelling at Brendan Urie in french about embarrassing her in front of their ‘daughters’ (who are actually just her cats, Meredith and Olivia).

Taylor had to do multiple shots of the scene to get her french just right, and even showed clips of her working with french professionals, who helped her with her pronunciation.

In a second behind the scenes video, Taylor shows how she came to have her third cat, Benjamin Button.

Benjamin was first brought to set to star with Taylor in the video, but after meeting him and cuddling with him, Taylor asked, “Can I have him?” Then, to Taylor’s surprise, the assistant who was in charge of the kitten told her, “he is available.”

“I’m obsessed with this animal,” Taylor later said after showing her parents how lovable Benjamin is.

“I’ve never had a cat love people this much,” she said.

Later, Taylor told Brendon that she bought the kitten from the earlier scene, saying “I know kittens are cute, but that kitten’s special…he’s an amazing, amazing little animal.”

“I love that you got him, too,” Brendon told her. “It’s the sweetest thing.”

“And whenever I watch the video, I’ll just be like that’s the first time I saw him!” Taylor said.

“That is actually really sweet,” Brendon said. “Recorded in history forever.”

Taylor’s ME! video has smashed several records since its release on April 26, including the largest 24-hour debut on Vevo (with 65 million views) and the video is now YouTube’s most-viewed female and solo 24-hour debut (with 65.2 million views).

Taylor is scheduled to perform ME! live tonight (May 1) in Las Vegas, where she’ll be opening the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

You can catch all the action when the award ceremony airs live at 8 PM EST on NBC.
