Zac Efron and Lily Collins were spotted in New York City on Thursday (May 2), where they hit the red carpet for a special screening of their new Netflix film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile during the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.
In the biographical crime thriller, Zac portrays serial killer Ted Bundy, with Lily playing his girlfriend Elizabeth Kendall. The film is based off Elizabeth’s memoir, The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy, and follows Ted and Liz’s relationship through his arrest and trial for murder.
While walking the red carpet at the event and talking about his latest role playing the charismatic Bundy, Zac spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the importance of choosing your friends wisely.
“In a world where we swipe left and swipe right and you meet people, friends come and go, you really should pay attention to who you’re with,” Zac said.
“I learned this [lesson] the hard way,” he added. “And hopefully nobody else has to.”
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile premiered on Netflix on May 3, and is now available to watch for all Netflix members.
