Halsey was spotted walking the red carpet in New York City on Thursday (June 13), as she attended the Songwriters Hall of Fame class of 2019 induction.
Halsey attended the event as one of the night’s honorees, where she received the Hal David Starlight Award, which recognizes young talent.
“Songwriting is such a crazy science because you’re taking a very limited amount of combinations of things – of notes, of words, of delivery and you’re trying to find ways to make them exciting and new and fresh,” Halsey said on songwriting.
“And when you see one of your peers do it in a fantastic way it really makes your heart swell because you’re excited for them. So I guess to have people feel that way about me in return is really, really very validating,” she said.
Halsey later took to social media to express her gratitude for her award, writing:
“I am wildly honored. Tonight was a very special night for Ashley. Halsey had to take the passenger seat. Thank you for this honor @SongwritersHOF”
During the event, this year’s class of 2019 was also inducted into the hall of fame, including Dallas Austin, Missy Elliott, John Prine, Jack Tempchin, Tom T. Hall, and Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens.
Congratulations to Halsey on her latest achievement!
