After news broke earlier this month that k-pop idol B.I of iKON reportedly attempted to purchase illegal drugs, the k-pop idol has announced his departure from the k-pop group and its agency, YG Entertainment.
YG Entertainment later confirmed B.I’s departure through their own statement, where they said:
“This is YG Entertainment.
We bow our heads and apologize for disappointing everyone with our artist Kim Han Bin’s problem.
Kim Han Bin is feeling heavy responsibility due to the impact of this matter. Taking the matter seriously, he has decided to leave the team and terminate his exclusive contract.
YG has become keenly aware of our responsibility for managing our agency artists.
Once again we sincerely apologize for causing concern.“
B.I debuted as the leader of iKon in 2015 alongside the group’s other members Bobby, Jinhwan, Ju-ne, Yunhyeong, Donghyuk and Chanwoo.
