Just hours after announcing her new single You Need To Calm Down, Taylor Swift has officially released the new song!
Taylor released the new song this Friday (June 14) along with a new lyric video, as she seemingly sings about public feuding and haters, singing:
“Say it in the street, that’s a knock out / But you say it in a tweet, that’s a cop out / And I’m just like, hey / Are you ok?” before going on to sing in the chorus “You need to calm down / You’re being too loud”
Taylor also calls out homophobes in the new song, singing:
“You just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace / And control your urges to scream about the people you hate / ‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay.”
Taylor will also be releasing a new music video to accompany her latest single, which will premiere June 17 on Good Morning America.
You Need To Calm Down is the second single Taylor has released off her forthcoming album, Lover. Back in April, Taylor released the debut single from the album, ME! Taylor also announced yesterday that the new album will feature 18 songs and will be released on August 23.
