Sabrina Carpenter talks music, social media & more

As she gears up to release her fourth album, Singular: Act II, on July 19, singer/actress Sabrina Carpenter recently chatted with Marie Claire to talk about her music, social media, and more.

“I want people to be able to listen to my music and feel like they’re wearing an outfit they love; it gives you that different posture, energy, attitude,” Sabrina said on her music.

One song on Sabrinas new album, titled In My Bed, shows a more personal side of the singer, as she talks about coping with anxiety.

“It’s very hard to define it; it comes in waves” Sabrina said about her anxiety.

“I have to constantly remind myself that I’m doing what I love and there’s so much to be grateful for,” she said. “I was able to channel that into some of these songs.”

If there’s one thing Sabrina loves to do when new projects like her albums are finally released, it’s going online to interact with her fans on social media.

“Sometimes, especially with album releases, I want to get online,” she said. “I want to do a live chat. I want to see what people are saying.”

However, the singer revealed that she tries to only respond to positive messages on social media, and that sometimes, she just needs a break.

“They’re always telling me I need to hydrate and rest. It’s very cute that they care,” she said.

“Sometimes I will literally post something and then just leave. Ghost. Throw my phone in the ocean. Completely MIA,” she says. “It’s the easiest way for me to not see what they’re saying—good, bad, negative.”
