Katy made a special cameo appearance in Taylor’s celebrity-packed video, where she and Taylor can be seen putting their past feud behind them as they hug it out while dressed as a burger and fries.
During an interview on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show on Tuesday (June 18), Taylor spoke about getting Katy to appear in the video, saying that making amends with Katy has been “a positive turn” in her life.
“I asked her if she’d be interested in this and Katy said, ‘I’d love for us to be a symbol of redemption and forgiveness’,” Taylor said.
“I feel the same way about it,” she said.
During her interview, Taylor also spoke about the message in her video encouraging viewers to sign her petition for the Equality Act. The Equality Act is a bill that if passed will prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, and more.
“I just feel really strongly about our governments wanting to protect everyone,” Taylor said.
“We are very behind on that in my country.”

You Need to Calm Down is Taylor’s second single off her upcoming album Lover (out August 23).
