With less than a day to go until the Jonas Brothers release their new comeback album Happiness Begins, the brothers have opened up about reuniting after a painful split.
“Being back with the Jonas Brothers? I truly never thought it would happen,” Kevin Jonas said in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “Like, ever. When that chapter closed, it closed. I put that book on the shelf.”
“I was like, ‘I’m not doing this again,” added Joe Jonas.
“Right after the band split up, I didn’t know if we would ever speak again,” said Nick Jonas.
“I felt guilty for having been so honest,” Nick said on how he felt after he initiated the split of the band. “But I was also aware that that was absolutely what needed to be done.”
“I could have done a better job of communicating the way I felt,” he said. “I’d had a month or two to live with this decision I’d made, and they hadn’t.”
But now, the brothers reveal that they’re in a much better place — both from their breakup days, and from their Disney days.
“I love that we’re all in a place where we can laugh at ourselves,” Nick said. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We can acknowledge that we were once a little robotic and uncool. Now we’re just plain uncool—and we’re okay with that.”
“We’re livin’ that life,” Kevin said.
The Jonas Brothers dive deeper into their rise and fall as a band in their new documentary, Chasing Happiness. The documentary is available now on Amazon Prime.
The Jonas Brothers’ new album Happiness Begins will also drop at midnight tonight, and will feature their two singles Sucker and Cool.
