Almost 20 years after debuting on the Disney Channel in The Ultimate Christmas Present, Brenda Song is returning to the network as a voice for the new series Amphibia.
In a new promo for Disney, Brenda sat down with the network to reminisce about all the characters she’s played on the network over the years, giving special shout outs to her characters from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Phil of the Future, and Wendy Wu.
“Returning to the Disney Channel really feels like coming home,” she says. “I grew up on Disney, like literally.”
“My first big project was The Ultimate Christmas Present, and ever since then I feel like I’ve never looked back.”
As for when it comes to her favorite characters and shows that she’s appeared on, Brenda says: “Of course I have to say London Tipton, because come on, it’s London Tipton.”
“She’s like a huge part of me now because I played her for almost eight years,” she says.
“I love Wendy Wu,” she says. “It was the first time I had the opportunity to play the lead telling a story about the struggles of being a 16 year-old Asian-American, all the while, having this crazy curse on her and doing martial arts and having to go to homecoming. It was a lot of fun.”
Next up, Brenda will be starring in the new animated series Amphibia, which follows a 13-year-old named Anne Boonchuy (voiced by Brenda Song), who steals a mysterious music box and ends up being transported to the world of Amphibia. There, Anne teams up with a young frog named Sprig, who helps Anne discover the meaning of friendship.
You can catch the first episode of Amphibia when it premieres on June 17, 2019 on the Disney Channel!
