Bella Thorne made a special appearance on ABC’s Strahan and Sara this week to promote her new book The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental Disarray. For her appearance, Bella she sat down with Keke Palmer for an in-depth interview, where she talked about her fame, being a child star, her relationship with her mother, and more.
During her interview, Bella was asked what she thought the biggest misconception about her is, and she said:
“I don’t know what the misconception is, but I’m guessing that it’s that I’m a party girl.
“They’d rather not see that I have my makeup line, and my book, and my show that I’m writing, and all the directing that I’m doing, and all the music videos that I’m directing for other artists, and the fact that I own a record label,” Bella said.
As for her relationship with her mother, whom she was estranged from for years, Bella said:
“We are so much closer now. On a realistic level, you know, me and my mom were best friends growing up. I think this is really the closest we’ve ever been in life to understanding one another, for both of us being honest with our opinions.”
Bella also addressed some of the issues she had with her mother, saying: “I wanted acceptance. I wanted appreciation and love for who I was, the way I looked, to everything about myself that I didn’t ever feel like I got.”
“I wanted an education, I wanted to feel like I could speak, I wanted a lot of things,” she said. “But I never spoke up so you can only blame people around you so much before obviously you start blaming yourself.”
Bella’s new book, The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental Disarray, features Bella’s “collection of illuminating and inspiring poems chronicles her personal struggles, relationships, and wild-child lifestyle, all with her trademark wit and wisdom.” The book was officially released on July 23, and is available now.
