HBO Max Orders ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot

Gossip Girl is coming back!

Seven years after the popular CW series wrapped up, the show is set to be rebooted by WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service, HBO Max.

According to Deadline, the streaming service has order 10 hour-long episodes, which will be “a reimagined version” of the original show.

Like the original series, the reboot will also be based off Cecily von Ziegesar‘s Gossip Girl book series, and will take place eight years after the original ‘Gossip Girl’ website went dark.

“A new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years.”

The original series starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badlgey, Chace Crawford, and Ed Westwick, and aired from September 2007 to December 2012.

HBO Max is set to launch in the spring of 2020, and will reportedly also own the streaming rights to The Fresh Prince of Bel-AirPretty Little Liars, and Friends.
