Colton Haynes on ‘Arrow’ Season 8: “I was not asked to come back for the final season as a series regular.”

After news broke earlier this week that Colton Haynes has exited Arrow as a season regular for season eight, the actor has taken to Twitter to clear up why he won’t be regularly appearing in the final season.

Showrunner Beth Schwartz announced Colton’s exit during the TCA press tour, discussing the possibility of having him back as guest star, saying: “We hope to have him back. We love him and he’s obviously one of the foundations of the show.”

Colton later tweeted about why he won’t be a regular this season, stating that it’s not because of his own choice, but because he wasn’t asked to be a regular.

“Getting a lot of angry messages so just to clarify…I didn’t exit the last season of Arrow. I was not asked to come back for the final season as a series regular,” He wrote.

“But y’all know Roy…he’s never gone for too long,” Colton added.
