Stephen Amell on Arrow’s Final Season: “Every episode feels like a special episode”

With just over two months to go until the eighth and final season of Arrow premieres, Stephen Amell has given fans some more details about what to expect from the show’s final set of episodes.

The actor recently chatted with Entertainment Tonight about the new season, where he dished on some of the new episode’s themes, whether he think Emily Bett Rickards will make an appearance in the final season, and more.

“I’ve been excited every episode and every episode feels like a special episode,” Stephen said about the new season. “Episode one feels like it’s just an ode to season one and episode two really leans on season three, and episode three is just all about family. They all feel like they have a theme… But I actually don’t know a great deal beyond episode 3 right now.”

As for whether the show will wrap up with a happy ending, Stephen said:

“I love all series finales. I love Seinfeld, I like Lost. I think it’s going to be happy because there is a resolution. That doesn’t mean it won’t be sad, but I personally believe it is a happy ending. It is for me.”

Stephen also revealed what he wants to take from set once the series wraps, saying:

“I want to take a suit. And when I say, ‘I want to take a suit,’ I mean I’m going to take a suit.”

During his interview, Stephen also addressed whether Emily Bett Rickards, who plays Felicity, will return for a special appearance in season 8.

“Those aren’t conversations the two of us have to have,” he said. “I’m a fan of our show. I would love her to come back; as her friend, I respect whatever her decision is. I think probably not.”

“She’s one of my best friends and it’s tough not having her there because Oliver’s a dick sometimes and the levity of Emily’s character was always there,” he said. “I’m purposefully trying this year to not take scenes where I might be a little morose and because we always had the juxtaposition of Felicity… We don’t have that this year.”

Season 8 of Arrow is set to premiere on The CW on October 15, 2019.
